Resilience

As we commemorate AAPI Heritage Month, I reflect on my own immigrant journey. Here’s a cherished photo of my family immigrating from South Korea (I’m the baby).

I deeply admire my parents’ courage in pursuing the American dream, navigating a new language and culture, and supporting our family. My upbringing has made me the resilient person that I am. I put myself through college, worked so many jobs, and never expected anything for “free”. But, I learned that if I wanted something, it was possible, if I put my mind to it….even if it would take me much longer than the “average” person.

Thank you mom and dad!
